Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, One-on-one had the unique restriction of being performed for an audience of one. I invited that person to hold the other end of a six-meter rope, which became both barrier and bridge — a delicate thread connecting us across the distance we were forced to keep. Through movement and spoken word the piece explored longing for touch, the ache of separation, and the small, fragile ways we find closeness in isolation.
What begins as a solo about proximity and desire for touch slowly becomes, with the simplest of gestures, a duet.
